It was suprising to hear from the USA speaker Lynda Enos at the AAMPH conference last week how far the US is behind comparativley in terms of still having to prove that a safe Moving & Handling programmes is required in their hospitals and their other facilities.

Lynda’s presentation was on a project setting ISO standards for slings and hoist attachments which has now been taken up internationally- worth looking out for.
Its called Sling and Lift hanger Bars compatability guidelines and can be found on http://www.asphp.org or http://www.hcergo.org

Thanks for this information Kate. I think there is a lot of variability in implementation of Moving & Handling programmes in the various states of the USA.
