    Hi Everyone

In light of some members not receiving the last MHANZ plans I am mailing you to make sure everyone has the details of this years AGM on Friday.

The agenda covers the usual business of seconding last years minutes, voting in or out office role holders e.g. chair, treasurer and secretary. Brief catch up around regional groups. A question from the Editor of the International Journal for Safe Patient Handling & Mobility (Heather Monaghan) ‘how has COVID affected M&H in NZ?’.

Our glamorous patron Michele A’Court will be joining us for some post lock down bants, come say hello if you can. If you can’t and would like to submit a question or nominate a new committee member etc. please mail me at chair@mhanz.org.nz

We hope to be able to update you on the forum and the mailing list ASAP.

    Thanks
    Anne

Re international Journal enquiry about COVID 19 and Moving and Handling in NZ

Moving and Handling in Aged care residential facilities and community houses for the Disabled has been significantly affected By COVId 19 . During the 4 week Lock down no visitors or contractors were allowed access to facilities unless they were essential services and group meetings were discouraged. So little practical Moving and Handling training took place . Advice could only be given on line.

Any admissions to Aged Care Facilities had to be confined to their rooms for 2 weeks and some people lost their mobility because they could not carry out their rehab and walking programmes
Hopefully now we are in Level 2 Allied Health staff and Moving and Handling Trainers will be allowed to visit and programmes will start running again
