Hi, Does anyone have a policy where clinical staff have to maintain a level of “fitness for work” and if so, how is it tested? Our Occ Health department are wondering, if this became a requirement (as it is for police and ambulance staff), would staff become more pro-active about staying “fit/healthy.”

    Hi Julie,
The BOPDHB does not have a policy for fitness to work. But we do have our own gym on site called SWEAT and it is reasonable to attend. They encourage lunchtime sessions too for staff as there is a good timetable to follow. We also have free health checks for all staff and EAP services. But I think it is a good idea but can see a lot of opposition too,
