Bariatric pathway

Hi
Does anyone have any policies they use within their organisation for the care of the bariatric patient. I am the manual handling coordinator for SDHB Southland site and we are looking to develop a pathway for staff to follow.

Hi Dee
We have modified some of the NHS Forth Valley Bariatric Handling Guidelines 2015 and have:
– a flow chart for admission to service and then these appendixes
Appendix 1: Body shapes
Appendix 2: Individual patient Moving and Handling assessment
Appendix 3: SWL of standard and bariatric equipment
Appendix 4: Equipment to hire
Appendix 5: Discharge to Home/ARC/Funeral Directors – Flow diagram
It is a great resource.
