I had a look at the manual handling policy at the aged care facility where i have recently started work I was disappointed to find they still referred to the 16 kilo weight limit .There was very little detail about risks and hazards and just a statement saying residents will be assessed in accordance with LITE principles.There was however a statement encouraging the use of lifting and transferring aids.
I will have to tactfully suggest the policy needs updating and refer them to the NZ Guidelines Cheers Ann Newsom.
